Built at Whitby, England in 1862 for Smales Brothers, the “Merrie England” carrying a cargo of mahogany, struck a reef off Key West, Florida, in 1877 and was declared a loss. Oil on canvas, 20 x 30 inches. Signed “S. Walters” l.r.
