Built at Liverpool in 1889 by W.H. Potter & Sons for Thompson, Anderson & Co., the steel-hulled “Sierra Ventana” was sold in 1903 and renamed the “Naiad.” She was sunk in 1916 by German submarines on a voyage from London to Buenos Aires. Oil on canvas, 23 ½ x 39 ¼ inches. Signed “J.H. Mohrmann” l.r. In a gilt reeded period frame with carved corner blocks.
