The curved single-edged blade stamped “W. Rose” on the spine of the blade, and “W/ V” on the shaft near the handle, the handle with ferule and ribbed, wooden grip covered in leather. Length 39 inches.In March 1812, the Purveyor of Public Supplies contracted with William Rose for 500 horsemen’s sabers with iron scabbards. This saber is believed to have been made under that contract.
