AMERICAN FREE-BLOWN PALE BLUE GLASS CREAM JUG, ENCLOSING A 1794 UNITED STATES LARGE ONE CENT COIN.

Of bulbous form with pinched spout, applied ridged loop handle ending in a curled terminal, on a domed pedestal foot enclosing a 1794 United States large one cent coin with rolled edge inscribed "ONE HUNDRED FOR A DOLLAR," rough pontil. Height 4 ⅞ inches.
Provenance: Family notes state that the pitcher was given to Frank W. Hill by his grandmother, Abigail Ware Foote (b. 1819, Woodbury, N.J.) on January 16, 1860. According to tradition, it was believed to have been made in the Philadelphia area and was a birthday present for his "great-great grandmother." Abigail Ware Foote's mother was Abigail Whitaker Ware (1781-1865) who was married in Gloucester County, N.J. in 1800. Her mother, in turn, was Ruth Whitaker.
