Built in 1833 at Saybrook, the “Hector” was commanded by Capt. David R. Post from Essex, Connecticut. Watercolor on paper, 16 ¾ x 23 inches, sight. Signed and dated “Frederic Roux au Havre 1841,” l.r. Inscribed and dated on the original backboard “Frederic Roux/ Hydrographie & Peintre de Marine/ petit quai Notre-Dame 13/ au Havre/ Mai 1841″ and signed F. Roux.” The reverse with exhibition label.
