The privateer brigantine “Venus” was commissioned in 1780 under Commander Michael Leslie of Boston, then in 1781 under Commander Henry Higginson of Salem. Gouache on paper, 17 x 22 inches, sight. Signed and dated “1807 Pinxt Francesco Ressman [sic] Trieste” l.r.
