Conditions of Sale

Bidding on items indicates acceptance of the following:
  1. A Buyer’s Premium will be added to the Hammer Price of each lot; the Buyer’s Premium is 17% of the final bid up to and including $100,000, then 10% for the remaining balance above $100,000.
  2. All goods are sold “AS-IS” and all sales are final. Condition reports are not included in this catalog. It is the responsibility of prospective bidders to examine lots and decide their level of interest. Neither the auctioneer, nor the consignor, is responsible for the accuracy of any printed or verbal descriptions. All weights and measurements are approximate.
  3. The auctioneer has the sole right to reoffer a lot and/or settle disputed bids.
  4. The record of sale kept by the auction house will be taken as final in the event of dispute.
  5. The purchaser assumes complete responsibility for items at the fall of the hammer.
  6. Some lots carry reserves or minimum selling prices. This is a figure set by the consignor and the auction house below which a lot will not be sold. The auction house will execute the reserve bids. The reserve will not exceed the low estimate. Estimates are subject to change at any time prior to the offering of each lot.
  7. Absentee and telephone bids will be executed when possible as a convenience to customers: the auction house will not be held responsible for any errors or failures to accurately execute bids. Bidders are encouraged to submit absentee bids prior to the auction. Purchases will not be available to absentee buyers for pick-up during the auction weekend unless arrangements are made prior to the sale.
  8. Items may be withdrawn at any time prior to the offering of each lot.
  9. The auctioneer reserves the right to reject an opening bid that, in his opinion, is not commensurate with the value of the lot.
  10. Payment by cash or good check only. The auction house reserves the right to hold property until checks clear. Potential buyers of expensive lots should discuss payment before the sale. A service charge of 1.5% will be added each month to unpaid balances beginning 30 days after the sale date. A $20.00 fee will be added for returned checks. If a check fails to clear after the second deposit, the purchaser will be held responsible for any and all fees incurred until we have collected good funds.
  11. Payment is due at the end of each sale, or upon receipt of an invoice, unless other arrangements have been authorized by the auction house. Shipping is arranged as a courtesy and at the buyer’s expense. Buyers of small items may choose to use Frank’s Parcel Place, a local packing and shipping facility, and payment for shipping with Frank’s can be made with Mastercard or Visa. Northeast Auctions must have received cleared funds to release property regardless of shipping method. Shipping may take up to four weeks after payment is received.
  12. In all instances the auctioneer’s interpretation of these conditions is final and binding on all bidders.

Notice To Absentee Bidders

Northeast Auctions encourages clients to attend our previews and auctions. There will be group lots that must be viewed to determine condition. Due to the high volume of condition requests, Northeast Auctions reserves the right to limit requests. Please carefully note Conditions of Sale, item 2, all goods are sold "AS-IS".
